The Roslyn Running Club is happy to announce the 42nd edition of “The Runner Stumbles” coming July 5th!

Starting at Suncadia’s Nelson Dairy Farm, this 5K/10K race–and 5K walk–will roll along wooded trails that are good for new runners, and those looking to PR, alike.  There will be trophies and ribbons, a kids’ dash, a drawing and refreshments .  All proceeds to benefit local youth.

“The Runner Stumbles” takes its name from the last movie made by Stanley Kramer (The Wild One, High Noon).  It was filmed in Roslyn and Cle Elum in the late 70s and set in a rural Roman Catholic parish.  A nun in tennis shoes has been our mascot for more than a decade.  Dick Van Dyke starred in the movie.  The image for this year’s race features an anthropomorphic birthday cake with “100” as it’s bib number.  Dick Van Dyke turned 100 late last year.

The Runner Stumbles awards trophies for the winners, and age-group ribbons three places deep.  Your odds of coming home with something to remember the race by are pretty good.  Fingers crossed.  There will be a prize drawing for the kids AND a free kids’ dash too.  Fun for families, cute for just all of us.

This race is a throwback.  It’s completely volunteer organized and run with all of the proceeds benefiting local youth.  This year we are raising money for warm up suits for Cle Elum/Roslyn High School cross country team and will be establishing a “shoe fund” for student-athletes to draw from that might not otherwise be able to afford competitive gear.
