The 2nd Annual Build-a-Scarecrow Event has ended, please join us again next year! Scarecrows will be on display around Cle Elum until a winner is announce on Oct 31, during Boo Elum festivities. Trunk-or-treat is back! Boo-Elum starts with a costume parade, led by the CERSD Marching Band at 4:00 PM. Then onto trick-or-treating downtown businesses along 1st Street and of course the Trunk-or-Treaters!

Costume and Trick or Treating Tips: 

Plan costumes that are bright and reflective

Choose costumes that are flame-resistant and not too long to prevent tripping hazards.

Carry a flashlight or glow sticks to help navigate dimly lit areas.

Use make-up or face paint instead of masks to prevent obstructing vision.

Remind child to never consume unwrapped or unlabeled (even if in a wrapper) “candy” – always let a parent/guardian/trusted adult know if they encounter this from as stranger or even a friend – this is a good reminder and conversation to have throughout the year as well

Remind child to never take items from others if they are unfamiliar with or unsure of what they are taking

“Weapons” should not be a part of the costume – avoid sharp or pointy costume accessories that could cause injury. Choose costume props made of soft materials.

If children are not going out with their parents/guardians, review how to dial 9-1-1 if they ever have an emergency or become lost. Ensure children and adults have identification and contact information on them.

Remind Children to not enter homes or cars of strangers.

Drive with extra caution on Halloween night in residential areas or where there is heavy foot traffic.
